It was a chance to fly to freedom for one feathered friend in Errington on Saturday.
A large crowd was on hand to witness the release of the eagle from the North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre.
The bald eagle has spent the past six months at the facility, recovering from wounds it suffered while fighting with another eagle.
And it’s thanks in large part to the dedicated staff that the eagle was able to recover enough to make its flight to freedom.
