Sayward RCMP said they found and arrested a distraught man suspected to have been in possession of a firearm.
Police issued a media release at around 5:30 p.m. saying multiple police units were in Sayward searching for a man who was believed to be behind an elementary school on the mountain ridge.
Police said they had no reason to believe the male had threatened anyone, but out of an abundance of caution, they locked down the elementary school.
Officers took the man into custody around 7 p.m. without incident.
