All float plane passengers and crew should be required wear life jackets during flights, according to new recommendations by the federal government.
Transport Canada also said pilots should undergo mandatory training on how to exit the plane under water.
After a float plane crash that killed six people near Saturna Island in 2009, some smaller airplanes have voluntarily made passengers wear life jackets, while larger operators have not.
In a statement released Tuesday, Harbour Air said it is assessing the proposed regulatory changes.
Transport Canada will accept feedback on the new regulations for 30 days.
